any thoughts on renting a bed loft? my daughter thought it might be a good way to get more space. I assume they have to be rented thru bedloft.com since that is where murray's web site directs you? if anyone has pros or cons on this I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks!

I would recommend waiting to see what is really wanted/needed upon move-in.

I believe if you 'rent' a loft system that you have to 'store' the unused pieces of the bed frame in your room. Sort of defeats the purpose but maybe someone who has done so will chime in. I also believe MSU has some 'lofting' frames available but again.....the unused pieces of bed have to stay in the rooms.

All the beds in all the dorms can be bunked and many kids choose to do so to free up floor space. The bed frames in Clark are adjustable (height-wise) and when at the highest setting, require use of a step-stool (or running jump!!!). This makes for tons of storage under the bed (extra drawers, moving bins, etc.)

We rented the bed loft last year and chose not to this year. It does save some room, but you do have to store the head and foot boards in the room. The other problem was the two heights you can set the loft to. The lower did not really allow you to sit beneath the bed. The upper was so high, it left a "claustrophic" amount of room to sleep in. Without the loft, you can still a)bunk the beds b) buy the platforms which raise the bed for more storage.
