Murray State now hosts an MBA program in Cyprus
The college of business and public affairs at Murray State University is now offering a master's of business administration (MBA) program in Cyprus. The MBA program in Cyprus is a 22-month program through Murray that allows working, professional Cypriots an opportunity to get the same MBA degree as those attending class on Murray State’s local campus.
The college of business and public affairs is offering the MBA in conjunction with the Global Center of Independent Studies (GCIS) in Cyprus. The Cyprus program follows the format of the successful MBA program offered in Hong Kong in the late 1990s.
Dr. James McCoy, director of MSU’s Center for International Business Education, says two major benefits of this program are name recognition for Murray State University globally and the excellent professional development opportunity it provides for the college’s faculty.
Each class is taught over a six-week period. Students receive a multi-media CD introducing the instructor, course and assignments for the first two weeks, and each participating faculty member travels to Cyprus to teach class for two weeks. During the last two weeks of the class, assignments are done electronically using the internet and BlackBoard©.
The program’s first cohort of 15 students began classes in January. These students are scheduled to graduate in August of 2006. Registration for the March 2006 session has already begun.
